Chocolate Raspberry Alchemy
Presentation is everything
This first appeared the other day in the comments section of a fabulous hub by that delightful hubber Iphigenia, whose awesome Chocolate Spaghetti and More for Easter is a visual as well as culinary treat. It was silly of me to post it there, as this is originally called the "Lazy Schmuck's Chocolate Raspberry Thang " and was really a joke when compared to the brilliant (and devious) recipes Iphigenia had come up with. However, those who have tasted it are still ooh-ing and aah-ing, so here it is with the new name of "Raspberry Chocolate Alchemy" (to sound fancier, as befits the august halls of Hubonia), as the taste depends on a blend of flavors at just the right temperature. Oh, and it's the easiest dessert I've ever made. I'm sorry I don't have photos, as it was all eaten by the time it occurred to me I should have photographed it.
You will need the following
- glass trifle bowl
- twelve or so heavy-duty "I am way-too-heavy-to-be-mere-cake" fudge brownies, covered in fudge frosting (I bought two six-packs from the local grocery store)
- two bags of good frozen raspberries
- bottle of Hershey's chocolate syrup (how much you use is really up to you. . . )
- tub of chocolate cream topping
In a trifle bowl -- for maximum viewing pleasure -- or deep serving bowl, assemble the ingredients as follows, taking care not to eat too many of them as you work:
- six of the brownies. Chop each brownie into cubes, and be careful not to lick the frosting off your fingers until all the brownie cubes are in the bowl. Tumble them into the bowl in any order with no heed to pretty patterns.
- one bag of still-frozen raspberries. Just chuck 'em in there.
- Squirt Hershey's chocolate syrup liberally over everything.
- one whole n'other six-pack of frosted brownies, doing as above
- one whole n'other bag of frozen raspberries (except for two or three)
- one whole n'other squirt of choco syrup
- most of a tub of chocolate cream topping (reserve enough to lick off the insides of the tub it came in) -- spread this over all, achieving a masterfully level surface. Decorate with a couple of raspberries and chocolate syrup swirls.
Cover the bowl in cling wrap and let raspberries melt, during which time a marvellous alchemical concoction will come into being.
Serve.
Die happy, etc.

OH DEAR...yummms:O) G-Ma Hugs
Die happy, indeed! I'll be sure to leave instructions that the morticiaon is NOT to wipe that smile OR the chocolate off my face!
I can imagine you fussing about your kitchen sans the apron. And I enjoy the side comments, seems like you are cooking for an audience. Thanks for sharing, anything chocolate does get me by with the absence of... :D
Hey Pete, yep: chocolate will do that for ya! Rochelle: this dessert is not for the timid, that's for sure. RKH -- anytime! making this dessert is almost as much fun as eating it. G-Ma: I hope that's an "ohdear!" of joy, as I wouldn't want to upset you! JamaGenee: thanks for coming by and drooling. And Cris: have no idea what you could possibly be referring to, as I don't see how chocolate could be replaced by anything -- (evil grin).
don't give that evil grin! or we have both forgotten? i hate short term memory loss! oh where was i?
Yummmm a great contender for the Nuclear fudge recipe I held onto until the kids were grown... heh heh heh
This sounds too good to be true! I knew I'd put that trifle bowl to use sooner or later. Now's the time! Thanks.
This PHENOMENAL recipe easily deserves a hub all to itself it was rather languishing in the comments under my hub. I want it for breakfast (it's 8am as I read this) what a great start to the day that would make - then I could have some after my lunch, mid afternoon and finish the bowl off before bed.
Yummy, this is the kind of puddings I like: easy to make and delicious! I think I would add some whipped cream on top!
Yep, guys: it's good for breakfast, lunch, or supper! Just be prepared to bounce off the walls if it's all you ever eat (the sugar content in this has got to be toxic!).
want some, need some, gimmee some now.
Omagaharumnummynummyugaahasumm! Pardon me while I wipe away the drool and translate:
Omy Gawd, haveto make nummy nummy gotta have some! Oh my, Richard is gonna totally love me for this one! TYTYTY TMcG!
Hey Hawkes, hey Silver -- enjoy. Just don't blame me when the sugar crash kicks in, later!
This is the only way I like chocolate, with raspberries or oranges, really. So delicious and distracting at once! How crafty. :)
OMG. Just reading this recipe gave me a buzz! Yum. You are the real deal M'am. :)
MMMmmmmm chocolate and oranges. . . Hey Patty, yeah, I like the combination, too.
PGrundy -- glad you liked it -- give it a try and tell me if it's ok.
I loved it when I saw it in the comment section of her hub. Now I can print it off for next Sunday's family dinner!
Sounds devilishly delicious! Now......where is that trifle bowl?
Great for Sundaes on Sunday, Peggy.
